Financial Advisor Training & Development

Pledging Our Commitment to You

Our goal is to have the best-trained, best-prepared Financial Advisors in the industry. That's why we developed an ongoing Financial Advisor training, development and certification program. And that's why we're committed to helping you become the most successful Financial Advisor you can be.

Making Sure You're Ready

When you first join Wachovia Securities you'll enter our 36-week, nationally recognized new Financial Advisor training program that's designed to help you:

  • Successfully pass your Series 7 and Series 66 exam (10 weeks)
  • Perform target market research, explore your existing network, and gain exposure to the firm's core products and services (two weeks)
  • Explore in-depth our core products and services through briefings by experts in our sales and marketing areas (one week)
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the firm's products and services and work your way through in-depth client scenarios to help refine your product-suitability skills and communications and sales skills (five weeks)
  • Learn our relationship-builder sales process and develop the skills needed to contact investors and convert those contacts into business relationships (one week)

After all that, you enter into our 12-week apprentice period, which challenges you to open 24 new accounts. You'll also work on your year one business development plan.

The last week of your training involves returning to the Home Office in St. Louis to earn your Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation through a two-day group study session. This will enhance your understanding of the various financial needs of pre- and post-retirees. After successfully earning the CRPC designation, you'll participate in advanced product and service sessions. You'll also work on a business development plan focused on an advisory, a traditional or a blended model.

Supporting You While You Build Your Business

After your new Financial Advisor training, we maintain our commitment by continuing to support you even as you begin to build your business. Because we want you to succeed in your new career, we'll give you:

  • Sales Trainers who offer conference calls and promptly respond to your questions
  • Up-to-date information on products and services and what's going on in the industry
  • A formal follow-up training session in St. Louis at the end of your first year (if you qualify)
